May News

Hey everyone!

As most of you know, the EP patch releases on Tuesday, June 2nd! Which is right around the corner! So, I wanted to reach out to give you a few tips and reminders!

  • Be Patient – I cannot stress this enough! Do NOT ask modders if their mods work. It’s distracting and frustrating when we’re asked the status of our mods 20 minutes after the patch goes live. It does NOT help! Give us time, we have lives too and not all modders can check right away. When we know, you’ll know.

  • Assume all mods are broken until the creators confirm otherwise. This is a BIG patch and a ton of mods will break/need updated. If you want to avoid game issues/LEs, do NOT try to play with your mods until they’re confirmed to be working by the creator ONLY. Even through testing in the game, a mod can appear to be working but still need an update.

  • If you can’t play without your mods, there’s a few things you can do:
    • First Option – Don’t patch until the mods that you can’t live without are updated or confirmed compatible. To do this, you’ll need to disable the Automatic Game Updates options located in Origin > Application Settings and switch Origin to Offline Mode (Origin > Go Offline).
    • Second Option – Patch but only play on a new or throwaway save without mods.  To do this, you’ll want to move your Mods folder to your Desktop and delete your localthumbcache file in your Sims 4 folder. Keep your Mods folder on your Desktop until you have updated all of them (or they’re confirmed compatible).

  • When your mods are finally updated and you’re ready to use them, don’t forget to re-enable Enable CC/Mods and Script Mods Allowed in your Game Options.
For MY mods

After the patch hits, please check my Mod Status page. It receives live updates as I’m checking my mods. So, check there often. I also suggest joining my discord where you can use the #role-yourself channel to receive a notification when all of my mods are updated.

Unrelated to the upcoming patch, I’ve been contemplating removing my mods from Mod The Sims. I haven’t made any final decisions yet, but that’s where I’m leaning. I’m at the point where I don’t want to upload updated mods to multiple places and removing my site isn’t an option that I’d ever consider. Therefore, MTS will draw the short stick. All of my mods on MTS are located here though, so you’ll still have access to them.

To my Patrons

Starting June 1st, I will no longer be accepting requests. I’m drowning in requests right now, with no end in sight. Because of that, I haven’t been able to work on my own projects, leading me to not want to mod at all (which is one of the reasons for the lack of content from me).

I’ve replaced the request benefit with the ability to vote on my upcoming content. This may include mod ideas, mod order release, mod features, etc.

If you’ve already made requests, don’t worry they will be fulfilled. However, I can’t give an ETA on them, especially with this new patch coming out. I do have a couple outstanding mod requests that the requesters never replied to me when I asked them questions on what they want. If I don’t receive answers, these requests will be dropped. If you can’t take the time to answer simple questions, then I can’t take the time to make your mod.

So, if you have any requests please get them in by May 31st because starting June 1st they won’t be accepted. I’m sorry, but I need to start modding for me again.
